Théodred was a character in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings. He was the son of Théoden, the grandson of Thengel, nephew of Théodwyn and Éomund, and cousin of Éomer and Éowyn

Background[]
Théodred was the only son of Théoden. He and his cousins, Éowyn and Éomund, were raised together and practically siblings. He once owned a horse named Brego, who would later be given to Aragorn.

After riding out to face Saruman's forces, Théodred
was mortally wounded in battle between a battle between the men of Rohan and the Orcs from Isengard. With an entire regiment of men, Éomer found his cousin alive but greviously wounded They took him back to Rohan to be nursed back to heal. Éowyn, lady of the house of Rohan and Théodred's other cousin and Éomer's sister, tended to him but saw that his wound was too deep. Théodred died of his wounds, which caused grief to the royal house and the people of Rohan.
Théodred was later buried with his other forefathers. Because of Théodred's death, Éomer succeeded his cousin as Théoden's heir.
